This sock design is a bow to Adidas' beautiful Telstar ball design. The Telstar was the official match ball at the 1970 World Cup in Mexico, the 1974 World Cup in West Germany (Telstar Durlast), and the 2018 World Cup in Russia (Telstar 18).
The ball was designed and marketed by Adidas. The ball was iconically designed with black and white face pieces, so it was easily visible on black and whitetelevisions. How clever!
Fact: Telstar was the name of a communications satellite that broadcast soccer games at the time.
