Toe of Casillas
€18,00
Is the third time Dutch justice? After the lost finals of 1974 and '78, attempt number three to win the World Cup has all the makings of one. The final match in South Africa is an exciting one, but with no major goal chances. In the 61st minute, a splitting pass from Wesley Sneijder shoots between Spanish defenders Joan Capdevilla and Gerard Piqué, toward Arjen Robben, who is already at full speed.
In 1974 it was West German goalkeeper Sepp Maier who was in the way, four years later against Argentina the goalpost prevented Rob Rensenbrink's winning goal in the final minute. And now? Robben manages to take the ball in the sprint. Capdevilla and Piqué cannot catch up with him. Three seconds later: the outgoing goalkeeper Iker Casillas guesses wrong by dropping to his left. But in a reflex, he lifts his right leg. With his little toe, he hits the ball shot in by Robben. Corner kick, no goal and again no world title for Orange.
