Urban Goals

18,00

Liverpool is a huge breeding ground of talent. The Merseyside region produces almost as many professional footballers as the city of London. Guys like Wayne Rooney, Steven Gerrard, Robbie Fowler, Joey Barton, Ross Barkley and Leighton Baines learned to play soccer on the streets. Thousands of times they shot their worn-out soccer ball into the intersection of so-called urban goals, captured by Liverpool photographer Michael Kirkham (40). FC Kluif partnered with Michael, together we designed a beautiful collection.
"Liverpool is a city that still has enormous poverty and squalor in the suburbs," as Kirkham. "The city has been in need of a massive revamp for decades, but we have been overlooked by the government. This does cause kids to get creative and be outside a lot. In a one mile radius (1.6 kilometers) around my house in the Aigburth neighborhood, at least 30 Urban Goals have already been chalked on the walls. Some local residents don't like it, but I love it. It shows that Liverpool is still a real soccer city.
